A long-time member of the Highland Park community, Diane Golin and her family and friends have grown up with NorthShore University HealthSystem's (NorthShore) Kellogg Cancer Center by their side for nearly 25 years.

Golin, a volunteer with The Auxiliary of Highland Park Hospital and co-chair of the upcoming Key to the Cure event to benefit Kellogg Cancer Center, said part of her motivation to be involved is pride in a prominent and respected cancer center.

Her inspiration to help also stems from watching a dear friend in her 40s lose her life to breast cancer. "She had battled it for 10 years," said Golin, who is co-chairing Key to the Cure with Auxiliary volunteers Jana Brok and Sarah Adess.

"Kellogg is there for all of us," she said. "Key to the Cure is festive, but we all know we're there to support an important cause."

"What's important is our efforts stay in the community," said Golin of the Auxiliary's support of the 14th annual event, which will be held in partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue starting with a cocktail reception, silent auction and raffle. It's all part of the national charity shopping event weekend, which will locally benefit Kellogg Cancer Center and the fight again women's cancers.

The cocktail party that kicks off the weekend runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 18th with a $25 suggested donation. Chicago Bears punter Adam Podlesh, a cancer survivor, will be a featured guest. A percentage of each sale made during the weekend also benefits Kellogg Cancer Center. Last year's opening night party at Saks in Highland Park was attended by 600, with the weekend event raising $40,000 in donations.

Key to the Cure's cocktail reception is underwritten by ARAMARK and the evening is generously supported by additional sponsors. For more information on the event or to get tickets, visit northshore.org/kttc or call 847.926.5003.
