For the sixth year in a row, our North Shore community and donor family is coming together to raise vital funds for the Endeavor Health Community Health Center (CHC) in Evanston.
Helping neighbors in need
The perception of Chicago’s North Shore suburbs is that all residents are wealthy with access to medical insurance. However, the reality is that there are pockets in every community where our neighbors are living at or below the federal poverty level and thus do not have access to affordable medical care.
In Endeavor Health’s North Shore service area, 8.2% of our neighbors don’t have health insurance. The CHC in Evanston bridges the gap for patients experiencing poverty by offering a reliable healthcare home as one of the North Shore’s only low-barrier primary care centers.
Each year, over 3,000 patients experiencing poverty receive high quality care at the CHC, regardless of their ability to pay. Here, they can receive regular check-ups, screenings and at-home medical tools such as continuous glucose monitors, blood pressure cuffs and pill boxes. The CHC also employs community health workers who provide critical services beyond medical needs, such as arranging transportation, housing and food security.
