Auxiliary Benefit Supports Patient Care

Guests enjoy The Auxiliary’s Trivia Night event

Enhanced patient care across NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) was the winner at The Auxiliary’s Trivia Night event, which raised nearly $10,000 toward supporting innovative programming at NorthShore. More than 130 friends and NorthShore staff attended the event at the Highland Park Community House in April.

In sum, and through other fundraising events, The Auxiliary awarded six grants this summer totaling $24,500. The Auxiliary’s grants will provide family support services at NorthShore Evanston Hospital’s Infant Special Care Unit, as well as provide prescriptions for patients at NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center with limited financial means to receive medication they otherwise could not afford.

The raised funds will also go toward purchasing specialized equipment for Kellogg Cancer Center to help evaluate, monitor and care for patients. Funds were also awarded for purchasing iPads to ease anxiety prior to surgery for pediatric patients, and iPads for adult patients who are receiving three-hour-long infusions at GI labs at all four NorthShore Hospitals. The Auxiliary also awarded funds to assess the impact of adding a Service Patient Care Technician to the current medical-surgical inpatient nursing structure at Evanston Hospital.
