An inaugural event will be held on July 26 to support clinical research trials, advanced nursing education and clinical care enhancements at NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center (KCC), Highland Park Hospital. The Auxiliary of NorthShore at Highland Park Hospital’s “Be Part of the CURE” event in July is part of a two-year fundraising goal to benefit these three projects.

The summer party, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at DC Sarnies in Deerfield, will include a cocktail and gourmet hors’ doeuvres reception, DJ, silent auction and raffle, with all proceeds benefiting Kellogg Cancer Center.

The first project will allow NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center to expand its clinical research efforts, providing even more patients the opportunity to benefit from new diagnostic tools and therapies. The Auxiliary, which has a 90 year history at NorthShore, will also raise funds to give specialist nursing staff the opportunity to participate in seminars, symposiums and lectures to ensure the latest treatment and techniques are available to patients.

Lastly, funds raised will enable the purchase of an ultrasound imaging device to improve placement of IV lines for cancer patients, resulting in an improved patient experience.

“The funding is aimed to improve the patient experience,” explains Sarah Adess, who co-chairs the event with Jana Brok and Diane Golin. Adess goes onto to describe how providing additional and up-to-the-minute training for Kellogg Cancer Center nurses only continues to smooth out the bumpy road of a patient’s cancer journey. “We believe patients can receive the absolute best care possible right here in Highland Park.”
